CHILDREN

     Pioneer Days are held at each elementary
school in Shelby County for fourth grade students by Grover Museum staff and volunteers.
Students learn about customs of the past with a variety of fun, hands-
on activities, some of which are:

                                     *  Storytelling
                                     *  Stenciling
                                     *  Weaving
                                     *  Quilting
                                     *  Toy making
                                     *  Girls make a mob cap
                                     *  Boys make a coonskin hat
                                     *  Students learn 2 songs on
                                         the dulcimer, then play as
                                         a group
